Mexico: Light Travel • 2008
My inspiration for this portfolio was to explore some of the abstract qualities of light. In one photograph sunlight transforms a sculpted glass window from a hard cold material into a set of golden curves dancing like waves. In another, a decorative window set high on a wall choreographs the light as it filters through tree branches and enlivens a dark corner with shimmering patterns.
Whether a street scene or architectural detail, these images entice the viewer to enjoy the spontaneous and miraculous confluence of form and luminosity that graces Mexico. The pictures were taken in Ajijic, south of Guadalajara, and Cuyutlan, a beach town (see photo at right) near Colima, and San Miguel de Allende.
