Iridescence

Iridescence is a superlative combination of light and color. It is intriguing to me in part because so many different materials are associated with the phenomena. In this diverse portfolio, a backlit spiderweb, beach bubbles formed by an ocean wave, an acrylic sculpture, and oil floating on water in a cast iron pan are just a few of the otherwise unrelated items presented here.

Light and its many manifestations is an idea used extensively in spirituality. To see the light, to reach enlightenment, the inner light, to glow with spirit... One thing I enjoy about iridescence is how its shimmering spectrum may arise from a usually colorless or nondescript material (water, spiderweb) when properly illuminated.
